[Blog] For the Anti-Keaners and Pro-Keaners
Written by superblueflude on Tuesday, 24th Nov 2009 13:39

If you've read my blogs before, you'll know that I am a pro-Keaner, but then again I am also an anti-Keaner in that I don't agree with some of his signings, and I don't expect to be where we are in the league at the moment.

But what is really getting to me is the remarks on here about how the reputation of Town has been dragged down.

Let's look at Keane, a monster of a man in midfield, someone you certainly wouldn't cross, but that's the whole argument, he was a player and was a midfielder, he was a Premiership winner and was a man who gained respect. Notice the main word there is - was!.

I believe a writer in the Comments section on here called Naa said he doesn't respect Keane for his tackle on Alf-Inge Haaland. This guy goes on to say he doesn't like Keane now because of this. Some of you may have red Ged Scott's comments on the Evening Star website, where he says over and over again that we have a man in charge of our club who is hated, doesn't man-manage, he's aggressive etc etc etc.

Now, take the tackle aside, and his playing career - what has Keane actually done during his management reign to prove to people that he is in fact a nasty piece of work? Not speaking to Jordan Rhodes, you'll say - Sorry that's just paper talk, not talking to Garvan you say -again paper talk. Doesn't take training - which is weird as I have seen him there.

His press conferences make him look aggressive as he is asked the same stupid questions and if I was manager I would also answer them the same way. Does anyone call Sir Alex Ferguson a mentalist for the way he gets angry? No, do they call Harry Rednapp names when he loses it about penalties? No.

For me Keane can't win. People assume that he walked out on Sunderland as he cracked. Why? He was being hounded on by the owners, so for me he did the right thing. How many of us have quit a job because of either staff bullying or management being pushy?

All the people that question his man-management skills - where is your evidence to prove that he hasn't got any? Ah yeah, callumgarryskeemer (regular Comments poster) will come on a say he dropped both Wrights for no reason, dropped Garvan for no reason and this shows that he doesn't care about those players as he let them play with the youths.

But look David Wright and Owen Garvan now, back in the first team with hunger - I have never seen Garvan run around as much as he did on Saturday.

For me I think he has managed Garvan and David Wright well. Garvan is a Championship player and that's all, no higher no lower. All that he needed was a kick to maintain some form which he let go.

Before you all get all anti-Keane and call me names for being pro-Keane let me get one thing straight. I am not pro-Keane I am pro-Ipswich and I feel that the only way to get the Town to where we want them to be is to support them and that means supporting the team, the manager the owner and the tea lady.

And quit moaning about the hoofball, for me we played a bit of hoofball on Saturday but mainly played it along the floor. If you want entertainment week-in, week-out - go and watch Arsenal, who can afford to buy players that can do it week-in, week-out.

Forget where we are, forget who our manager is, his past or his future and concentrate on the team whoever plays, no matter who's dropped. Let's concentrate on talking about how the players can improve things - afte rall a football team is not only about the manager, players have to play as well.

So Callum, Naa and other critics, I do agree with certain things you say, and yes I may accept that Keane may not be the best choice of manager, but, right now he is so let's get behind everyone.

Sorry, i dont think the naming of individuals in the blog was neccesary, CGS and Naa named .....why ? CGS is outspoken ,sometimes suffers typo's, and rushes of blood to his head and hits the ;'.'//.//;t keys, but he is not always wrong with his comments, Naa does not get personal and normally his comments are valid, we are never all going to agree on everything,Personally i think Keane has to go,and i think he will, nothing to do with the Haaland incident at all.Keane lives by the sword and he'll die by the sword ,he attracts publicity for all wrong reasons not by achievment. The results this season are by any standards abysmal, and as he came in ''as the dogs do da's they look even worse. All the crap about playing for M U ,means nothing ,better players than him have failed in management .

naa, the fact we spend so much time on here, the same could be said about all of us!

IQ has no place in football!
Just ask Wayne Rooney. No, seriously we all seem to want the same thing, its just the route we take to get us there, we cant seem to agree on.
Agree also wholeheartedly about our direction. However i refuse to believe things cant get better, simple as that.

It was me that said one of the reasons I didn't like Keane was because of the Haaland incident. Yeah, injuries happen in football, that is certain because of the nature of the game - but deliberately going out to injure somebody is entirely a different thing altogether. I also mentioned the incident with Mick McCarthy and the Irish Squad amongst many others reasons I am against Roy Keane in a post I wrote a month or so back.

I support Ipswich Town - a football club as a whole; which is something quite different to one man - to me the manager is a small (but obviously important) part in the whole set-up. When I see any individual who is making ITFC into a laughing stock, producing p*ss poor results and making ridiculous decisions week in, week out, and generally dragging down the football club I love it is only natural for me to get shirty about it and want the individual out before any more damage can be done. When that individual happens to be Roy Keane it simply re-inforces my desire to have hi removed as soon as possible.

As I have stated time and time before - Roy Keane is NOT the right man for ITFC - never was and never will be. It's like fitting a square peg into a round hole - the two are not in any way compatable and our current league position and results just go to demonstrate this fact.

Keane is a termite at ITFC, undermining our proud foundations - foundations that have taken decades to build up. If Keane doesn't go asap how long will it be before our respect and reputation as a decent, fair and family club goes down the sh*t pan? The manager's position at ITFC is for a gentleman; not a thug.

UEFA81 you have saved me a job spot on, Thank You!
I read utter rubbish about 'having' to support keane on here, I pay damn good money and travel long distances to see the club I love play & have done so for over 40 years. I have never ever booed the team and never will, but keane is the wrong man for our or any team IMO, its an opinion I voiced from day one & will continue to do so. Anyone who think Keane's doing a good job so far I suggest they look at where we are currently!
The sad thing on here is fellow fans being down right abusive to each other

So many things could be written here about this blog as I am part of the "Keane out" brigade as there are more arguments against him than for him, but will comment on jut one point for now. How can you justify his treatment of David Wright??? He was one of our better players last season anyway and has always shown hunger (as much as anyone else in the team), so dropping him seemed to come from nowhere. And, even if for arguments sake, it was considered that he had lost some hunger, why did he leave him out of the team for so long when any potential replacements were playing so poorly??? Eventually he took over from Delaney at left back (due to the poor prioritising of getting a right back in on loan), but during the time that Wright was "getting his hunger back", Delaney was having a shocking time, contributing lots to our terrible start, losing his confidence and setting the tone of the defence. This one bad decision has had a knock on effect far greater than just dropping a player.

The worst news this week was that saying Keane is here to stay and that the rumours of his sacking were wrong.

Hounded by the Sunderland owners?? There is one owner - Ellis Short. Sunderland got hammered 4-1 at home from Bolton and Keane spat his dummy out and didn't turn his phone on the next day. Ellis Short attempted to call him and see when he would be available. Since when is it "hounding" to want to know when your employee will be at work? Keane didn't have a problem when he was spending 80m of this employers money on new players. I have said this once before and I am going to say it again. Keane will never make a good manager. He is simply not cut out for it. He got Sunderland promoted and he will always be remembered for that. He changed the bad mentality and raised our profile back up. However, he bought a lot of crap, treated his players like crap and couldn't handle it. For me the "hounding" was a convienient excuse to walk.

I think the website is being spoiled by lack of editorial control, "publish and be damned" is one thing, but "too many cooks spoil the broth".

Some of the bloggers are simply ranters who would normally sound off on the forum - I blame the teachers!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This website is currently being spoilt by a few narrow-minded individuals who are incapable of forming a structured argument and spend far too much time chucking petty insults at anybody who dares to hold an alternative point of view.

Tractor id agree if you weren't assuming that im just a ranter - im far from it, i agree with having alternative views, and this website is not only great for news its a great site for having discussions not just the forum but the main page, i believe the people who dislike blogs are the ones that should stick to the main itfc website and leave these alone, as we all know Phil provides news already posted on other websites, so a bit of blogging adds to the website.
